Detailed itinerary
Day 1: pick up & transfer to Murchison Falls National park – Enroute rhino tracking
Early in the morning, the driver guide from Authentic Africa Safaris will pick you from either your hotel or the airport and set off for Murchison Falls National park. You will stop in Nakasongola for rhino tracking at ZZziwa rhino sanctuary the only place to see these endangered species. You will have lunch in Masindi and proceed with a drive to Murchison falls National park
Day 2: Game viewing & boat cruise
Rise up very early and go for a morning game drive in the open plains of Murchison Falls National park. The Park is Uganda’s largest and oldest National Park sheltering a high concentration of wild animals in Uganda. Expect to see numerous wild animals such as Giraffes, Lions, Leopards, waterbucks, Warthogs, Topis, duikers, Hippos, buffalos and elephants among others. In addition to wild animals, Murchison falls National park is home to over 500 bird species such as black-billed barbet, blue-headed coucal, Giant kingfisher, swamp flycatcher, Black-headed lapwing, Black-headed Gonolek and red-throated bee-eater among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and relax at the lodge waiting for hot lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of the fall to experience how strong river waters squeeze through a 7-meter gorge falling 43 meters down to form a waterfall. The banks of the river shelter numerous water animals like crocodiles and hippos plus many birds.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
You may have an early morning game drive to see some animals you missed the previous day. Have a relaxed morning breakfast at the lodge, check out, and transfer to Kibale Forest National park. Enjoy scenic drives via tea plantations, local communities, and rolling hills.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi wetland walk
The great day for meeting the endangered chimpanzees is today. You will rise early, have breakfast and transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Information Centre for a briefing on the rules and regulations of trekking chimpanzees. Kibale Forest is the primate capital of Africa sheltering the highest number of chimpanzees in Africa. the Park is also home to 12 other primates such as Red-tailed monkeys, Black and white colobus monkeys, Baboons, Grey-cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys and Blue monkeys among others. You will be allowed to spend an hour with the primates but the total time to spend in the jungle can be up to 6 hours depending on where the endangered primates are located. Chimpanzees are the closest relative of people sharing over 99% of human genes. In the afternoon, go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary, home to numerous birds, primates, and ground insects.
Day 5: Nature walk transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
Have an early morning nature walk in Kibale Forest to enjoy the sweet melodies of birds waking up. Return to the lodge for late breakfast, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park Uganda’s second-largest and oldest National park.
Day 6: Game Viewing & boat cruise
Go for a morning game drive in kasenyi plains to catch up with early risers hunting, feeding and browsing before they rest for the day. The park shelters lots of wild animals such as buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, and Hippos among others. Return to the lodge for breakfast and wait for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise at Kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Enjoy scenic views and fresh breezes at Kazinga channel. More so, the banks of the river are home to numerous birds such as yellow-billed stork, African king fisher, pied Kingfisher, Black bee-eater, African Fish eagle, Ibises, White egrets and hammerkops among others.
Day 7: Ishasha tree climbing lions & transfer to Bwindi Forest National park
After having breakfast at the lodge, check out and drive to ishasha sector in the southern region of Queen Elizabeth National park. Look up into the acacia trees for climbing lions seen resting lazily above you. You will have lunch enroute and proceed on a drive via local communities connecting to Buhoma sector north of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park.
Day 8: Mountain Gorilla trekking & Batwa cultural walk
Rise up very early, enjoy a heavy breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Buhoma park headquarters. There you will be registered and briefed on the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking. At 8:00 am, start a climb uphill in search of the gentle giants. The trekking time can last between 30 minutes to over 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas and the speed of the slowest person in the group. The allowed time with the gorillas is strictly an hour counted from the time travelers meet the gorillas. In the evening if time allows, you will visit the Batwa communities to learn and experience their traditional life.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park- game Viewing
Enjoy your last moments in Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park, check out, and drive via the Kigezi rolling hills headed to Lake Mburo National park Uganda’s smallest savannah park. Have lunch at your lodge in lake Mburo and go for an evening game drive to see zebras, buffalos, waterbucks, giraffes, and warthogs feeding in the park. Overnight at your lodge
Day 10: Community tour & Transfer to Kampala
In the early morning, go on a cultural tour to experience cultural activities especially milking and making ghee and butter. Return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and drive back to Kampala connecting to Entebbe for your flight.
