Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will be picked on arrival by our trained guide and transfer to the Hotel to relax from the long flight. You will be briefed on the program and then leave you to rest that evening. Dinner and Overnight.
Day 2: Kigali city tour & Transfer to Volcanoes NP
After the breakfast at the lodge, you will have a city tour around Kigali city starting with the Genocide memorial. This site has a strong emotional attachment to the Rwandan population because of the tragedy that befell this Nation in 1994. Audios and videos are at the site for you to help you clearly learn about what happened in Rwanda. You will set off on a journey to the north of Rwanda towards Volcanoes National park where the mountain Gorillas live. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking
The day starts on a tasty breakfast at the lodge and thereafter be led to the park offices where you will be briefed on the guidelines of Gorilla tracking and to be allocated Gorilla families to track. You will then enter the forest in search for the mountain Gorillas where you will be allowed one full hour with the Gorillas. You will have a chance to understand individual behavior on how each individual gorilla behaves. Return and meet the driver and head to the Hotel to rest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking
After the morning breakfast, you will head out to the park headquarters and be briefed on the guidelines for Golden Monkey Tracking. You will then be divided in groups and be led to the forest in search for habituated Golden Monkeys. Unlike the gorillas, the Golden Monkeys are easier to track as they don’t move long distances like the Gorillas. After meeting the Golden monkeys, you will be allowed one full hour as you interact with the Monkeys. You will later return to the starting point and drive off to the Ibyiwacu cultural village to interact with the locals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will be on your journey to Lake Kivu for another exciting moment. The beautiful countryside with the rolling hills will overwhelm you as they expose the natural wonder of this country. Arrive in lunch hours, have lunch hours ad spend the rest of the afternoon chilling on the shores of Lake Kivu. You can take part in water sports such as swimming, sunbathing and downing as you enjoy the cold breezes and fresh winds from the waters. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park where the Chimps live with other wildlife species like the birds. Arrive in the afternoon and be ready to go for the canopy walk which is one of a kind in East Africa. The canopy walk is not for the fainthearted as it is suspended on top of the forest overlooking the entire Park and beyond. This is absolutely one of the best moments during this trip and will overwhelm your expectations as you watch the monkeys and birds from above. Return to the lodge and have Dinner and overnight there.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking
After breakfast, you will be led to the park offices to the briefing point to meet other guests, be briefed together end divided into groups. You will then meet the guides and head to the forest to search for the habituated Chimps. It will take you a few hours before you meet the Chimps and take time to understand the behavior of each individual behavior. You will then return to the starting point and depart to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: Return to Kigali
Return to Kigali for your final flight.
