Day 1: Pick up, City tour & transfer to Virunga National park
Your driver guide from Authentic Africa Safaris will pick you up from either Kigali International Airport or your hotel and transfer you for a city tour in the beautiful Kigali. Explore and enjoy the ambiance of the peaceful green Kigali, the cleanest city in Africa, tour different tourist centers in the city center such as the Kigali Convention Centre, Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko Market, Inema Art gallery, and presidential Palace among other places. You will then drive to Goma crossing over to Congo.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking
Have an early morning breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to the Park headquarters for a pre-gorilla trekking briefing and registration. You will be allocated 1 gorilla family to visit for a lifetime experience. The trekking time ranges between 30 minutes to over 6 hours but you are 99% sure of meeting the endangered apes. The actual time to send with gorillas is strictly an hour counted from the time you set your eyes on the gorillas. The other animals which live in Virunga National park include Forest elephants, warthogs, baboons, and colobus monkeys among others. Virunga Park is also home to over 700 bird species which makes it a haven for birders. You will see various birds such as the grey throated barbet, Narrow tailed starling, Stripe breasted tit, Black-billed Stork, and Olive Sunbird among others.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
After morning breakfast, enjoy your last moments at your lodge in Virunga Park, check out and drive back to Goma crossing over to Rwanda. Drive straight to your hotel in Kigali or the airport or your connecting flight.
